My memories are of happy times, taking my dates to Top Burger and getting two hamburgers. two malts, fries and having enough change left from a dollar to play the juke box. Walking down to the resturant a couple blocks from school and buying a heaping plate of "Battered" french fries for 75cents. I've never found another place that makes them. In those days we could fill our car for $3, because gas was only 25cents a gallon. I really enjoyed Geomerty class. I can't remember the teacher's name but his first name was "Charlie". I also thought I enjoyed Literature class with Ms. Vanderburg, until she read some of my personal stories and told me that my writing, was "garbage" and "trash", that "nobody would pay to read such tripe"... That act crushed my desire to become a writer. Almost ten years passed before I finally got up enough courage to write again. Sold my firt story to a national publication, who requested more. I then became a regular contributor. Was made "Field Editor" for a major publishing house for 20 years. Writing for a number of periodicals under five different names. Finally did "story lines" for television.... Just goes to show you, don't let anybody dampen your desires. Posted: 04/14/2009 |

Of course, my best memories were the times spent with my girlfriend, Frankie Lee Hignett, who became my wife on July 27th, 1962, after graduation. Posted: 04/14/2009 |
